Sky Is Bleeding is Evirgen’s second EP after Totem.
In the title track, the TEMP~Records resident artist gives
free rein to his dark side. Gloomy synth pads and percussive
elements overlaid with a lot of reverb and echoes –
that constitute the Sky Is Bleeding Dub almost
exclusively – produce an interaction typical for Evirgen:
the abysmal suspense atmosphere of a horror movie
meets his specific, inescapable drive that forces us onto
the dance floor immediately.
Electric Indigo delivers with the Sky Is Bleeding Remix
her own interpretation of electronic Ska. Strongly shuffled
rhythm elements, brought to life using crafty delays, the
bass at the very bottom, and the characteristic chords let
the saturnine original appear kinder, even if a bit peculiar.
Overwhelming funk distinguishes the two stomping
tracks Xujia and Kam. They clearly show that Evirgen is
not only a composer and producer but also an exceptionally
gifted DJ who rocks the clubs from Istanbul over
Vienna and Barcelona to Berlin come hell or high water.

Sky Is Bleeding ist Evirgens zweite EP nach Totem. Im
Titeltrack lässt der TEMP~Records Resident-Artist seiner
dunklen Seite ungehemmt freien Lauf. Finstere Flächen
und mit viel Hall und Echo belegte perkussive Elemente,
die in der Sky Is Bleeding Dub Version fast völlig für
sich stehen, bewirken ein für Evirgen typisches Zusammenspiel
von scheinbar gegensätzlichen Merkmalen: die
abgründige, von Suspense bestimmte Atmosphäre eines
Horrorfilms trifft auf seinen spezifischen, unausweichlichen
Drive, der uns prompt auf die Tanzfläche treibt.
Electric Indigo liefert mit dem Sky Is Bleeding Remix
ihre eigene Interpretation von elektronischem Ska. Stark
geshuffelte und mittels ausgetüftelter Delays zum Eigenleben
erweckte Rhythmuselemente, der ganz tief unten
angesiedelte Bass und die charakteristischen Chords lassen
das düstere Original etwas freundlicher erscheinen.
Xujia und Kam stampfen gnadenlos und schaffen es,
dabei überwältigend funky zu sein. Sie lassen eindeutig
erkennen, dass Evirgen nicht nur Komponist und
Produzent sondern auch ein begnadeter DJ ist, der die
Clubs von Istanbul über Wien und Barcelona bis Berlin
auf Teufel komm raus rockt.
